FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL, HEATHERWICK STUDIO
It has been more than a decade since Thomas Heatherwick won numerous honors, including a Structural Steel Award and an Emerging Architecture Award, for Rolling Bridge, a curling pedestrian bridge over a London waterway. In 2016, the British designer is set to construct another water-related project, a $130 million, 2.7-acre park on stilts in Manhattan’s Hudson River. Heatherwick’s high-profile projects don’t end there. With Danish firm Bjarke Ingels Group, the designer will build Google’s new headquarters from the ground up in Mountain View, California.
