Stephen Ross

The head of the real-estate firm developing the 28-acre Manhattan Yards project sits on an impressively cash-infused empire. So much so that he recently donated a gift of $100,000,000 to the University of Michigan for the naming of a campus athletic center. His influence goes beyond just buildings: He is the owner of the Miami Dolphins football team and a part owner of Motivate, a consortium that owns Citi Bike. Also underway is an 11-story residential tower designed by Zaha Hadid and located alongside the High Line.
