Sheikha al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani

Qatari royalty Sheikha al Mayassa has spent billions bringing contemporary art to the country’s museums, and has installed sculptures by the likes of Damien Hirst, Louise Bourgeois, and Richard Serra throughout Doha. Also the head of the Doha Film Institute and the foundation Reach Out to Asia, the 32-year-old is leading an initiative to turn the oil-rich nation—and home to Al Jazeera, the media company founded by her father—into a major center of culture and giving. In honor of her work, the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo last month awarded her its StellaRE Prize, given to women who work to better the current world.
