As a co-founder of Tesla Motors, he has overseen the completion of a cross-country “Supercharger” network for his company’s electric vehicles, and has broken ground on a $5-billion “Gigafactory” in the Nevada desert, where hundreds of thousands of EV-ready battery packs and home energy storage units will be assembled.
