Part of a collection that used the swan as a motif, this necklace evokes the bird's graceful silhouette.

Whether subtle or straightforward, British designer Stella McCartney is a master at incorporating animal motifs into her creations. For fall, she punctuated her runway collection with swans, a symbol of love and fidelity. Though less conspicuous than the floating white birds that appear on the line’s wool sweaters and pleated skirts, this necklace suggests the animal’s elegance in its shape and structure. Decidedly simple lines and a suspended sphere mimic the swan’s understated poise and posture. Moreover, materials of pure white brass and enamel are appropriately sustainable—a principal concern for McCartney, a lifelong vegetarian and animal rights advocate. All in all, it’s an accessory that exudes great grace.
