French artist Vincent Leroy aimed to slow people down with a work created for the cognac maker.

A mirrored, spiraling artwork titled “Red Ripples” anchors La Maison Rémy Martin, a pop-up dining room in New York City that runs Oct. 21-23. The cognac maker asked French artist Vincent Leroy to create the work, a series of concentric circles that gyrate in slow motion. “It’s interesting to do something slow, when everything must go faster in our world," he says, adding that the commission appealed because of his ongoing interest in time. "It’s exactly the same thing with the cognac process of ageing; it goes against the crazy pace of today’s lives.”
